Pastor
Ervin B. Rasmussen
Pastor Erv Rasmussen was born
and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where his parents were involved
in the grocery business. He graduated from Bethany Lutheran Grade
School, then attended Boys Technical High School, where he received
two diplomas - Electrical Trade
and High School. In his senior year, he was elected President
of the Student Council.
After working for a year as a
technician in the experimental laboratory of the McGraw Edison
Company, he joined the US Air Force. Pastor Erv served for four
years as an Instructor in the Basics of Radio Mechanics at Scott
Air Force Base in Illinois.
All through these post high school
years, he picked up the nickname "Preacher" or "Sky
Pilot" because of his love of sharing the Good News of Jesus
with those around him.
Upon discharge from the service,
he attended Concordia Seminary. In his senior year he was elected
President of his class. He received his Master's Degree from
Concordia in 1970. He has served churches as Associate Pastor,
Missionary at Large, and Pastor, in Wisconsin, IL, and Arizona.
He also served as un-official chaplain to the Illinois Youth
Commission.
Pastor Rasmussen is the founder
and Executive Director of the Lutheran Evangelism Association
- Prayer Family International. In this capacity, he has conducted
hundreds of witness workshops in the United States, Canada, and
India (where he also helped set up a printed word witness outreach).
The Workshops are designed to help those who feel they are too
shy or timid to be in an organized witness program, but would
like to share their faith in non-structured every day situations.
Pastor Rasmussen has been privileged
to be invited to hold witness workshops at all of the "Great
Commission Convocations". He was a participant in the Lusanne
II Congress on World Evangelization held in Manila, Philippines
in 1989. He served as Editor and Publisher of the "Arizona
Lutheran", and now serves the national publication, the
"Waiting Time Digest" in those capacities.
Pastor Erv makes his home in
Scottsdale, Arizona, with his wife Beverly.They have four grown
children and four grandchildren.
